ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Building Design and Construction Documents:

Provide building designs while incorporating budget restrictions, space program requirements and City guidelines. Produce timely and accurate construction documents and detailing for project for purposes of bidding, permit acquisition, and construction. Coordination of structural, civil and landscaping consultants. During construction phase, conduct site inspections, monitor/analyze change orders and process/approve shop drawings.

Site Plan Design:

Develop site layouts including analysis of building footprint orientation and parking design which comply with CSM development/leasing criteria; as well as City code requirements. Conduct zoning research and site planning to determine if proposed project is feasible for selected site. Provide sketches, preliminary elevations and plans for proposed projects.

City Approval Process:

Prepare required design and construction documents for submittal to various City Planning Departments to assist in attaining City and jurisdictional approvals on assigned projects.

Project Leadership:

Take ownership of assigned projects. Act as primary communication liaison between Architecture and other internal and external parties.

Tenant Improvements:

Develop space program requirements, tenant fit plans, and construction documents (which comply with CSM leasing criteria). Meet with the tenant to finalize all space requirements and select interior finishes. Maintain contact with tenant and conduct project inspections to monitor design intent during the construction phase.

Code Research/Review:

Perform research to ensure that projects meet all applicable code requirements including IBC, IFC, ADA, etc. Review drawings for code, design and constructability issues. Review consultant's drawings to ensure design concept compatibility. Keep current on relevant code changes.

Self/Workload Management:

Responsible for effective self/workload management with the ability to work on multiple projects at once and reprioritize as required. Demonstrates clear written and verbal communication skills. Promotes collaboration and positive, professional work environment. Attends all daily, weekly and/or monthly department/company meetings to ensure proper communication/planning occurs. Adheres to all CSM Standard Operating Procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Professional degree in Architecture from a program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).

Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Registered Architect in the State of Minnesota. NCARB Registration (National Council of Architectural Registration Boards) desirable, but not required.

* 7 to 10 years of work experience (Commercial/Industrial/Tenant Improvement).

* Proficiency in AutoCad 2018/Architectural Desktop. Familiarity with Revit preferred;

* Excellent communication and presentation skills;

* Attention to detail and a proven ability to manage multiple projects;

* Current knowledge of relevant building codes, demonstrated willingness to keep up to date with codes;

* Previous team leadership / project management experience is preferred.
